Kebbi Governor Nasir Idris Names New Running Mate for 2027

The Kebbi State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has appointed Alhaji Ibrahim Muhammad Augie as the running mate to Governor Nasir Idris for the upcoming 2027 governorship election. This announcement was made on Sunday at the Presidential Lodge in Birnin Kebbi by APC National Organising Secretary, Alhaji Suleiman Muhammad Argungu, during a visit from stakeholders of the Argungu Emirate.

The decision to replace the current Deputy Governor, Senator Umar Abubakar Tafida Arugungu, was based on professional legal advice regarding his eligibility. Suleiman Muhammad Argungu confirmed that the decision was made with the understanding and consent of Senator Umar Abubakar Tafida, emphasizing that there was no disagreement between the governor and his deputy.

Governor Nasir Idris also reassured party members of his commitment to work with Augie and urged unity among APC supporters. Ibrahim Muhammad Augie previously served as the Commissioner for Finance in Kebbi State under former Governor Atiku Bagudu and is from Augie Local Government Area.
