SDP Names Adewol Adebayo as Presidential Candidate for 2027

The Social Democratic Party (SDP) formally submitted the name of Adewol Adebayo to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) as its presidential candidate for the upcoming 2027 general elections. This submission followed the party's national convention and presidential primary held in Bauchi on May 9, 2026.

The letter addressed to the electoral commission was forwarded by Dr. Olu Agunloye, the party's national secretary, detailing Adebayo's emergence as the sole aspirant with significant support from party delegates.

The SDP confirmed that Adebayo will contest for the presidency of the Federal Republic of Nigeria under the party's platform. Additionally, the party has requested that the commission provide the necessary nomination documents, including forms EC9, EC9A, EC9B, EC9C, EC9D, to complete the candidacy nomination process.

Adebayo was previously unopposed in the 2023 elections and is now set to represent the SDP in the 2027 presidential race.
