Adebayo Emerges SDP Presidential Candidate for 2027

Adewale Adebayo was declared the presidential candidate for the Social Democratic Party (SDP) during the party's presidential primaries held at the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa Stadium. Adebayo, who emerged as the unopposed sole aspirant, emphasized his anointing by God to provide a befitting opposition to President Bola Tinubu ahead of the 2027 elections.

He highlighted the hardships faced by Nigerians, including unemployment, poverty, and insecurity, and criticized the All Progressives Congress (APC) for suppressing internal democracy and weakening opposition parties. Adebayo commended Bala Mohammed for allowing the convention to proceed peacefully despite political pressures.

He pledged that the SDP would contest the 2027 presidential elections with a focus on people-oriented leadership, tackling poverty, and strengthening democratic institutions. Adebayo's campaign will take place in January 2027, and he expressed confidence in winning the election with God's grace.
