Zailani Declares Senate Candidacy for 2027 Elections

Zailani, the former Speaker of Kaduna State, has officially declared his intention to run for the Senate in 2027, following calls from various districts. He described his decision as a divine summons to serve, emphasizing that it is not driven by personal interests but rather a commitment to represent and advance the interests of Kaduna Central.

Zailani expressed alignment with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, whom he regards as a political mentor, and urged support for a joint ticket alongside Governor Uba Sani for the upcoming elections. He highlighted the need for increased funding for northern states to enhance federal allocations and attributed development to the removal of fuel subsidies, which he believes will increase revenue and enable the government to meet salary obligations and tackle infrastructure challenges.

Zailani also cautioned against the mismanagement of public funds and called on the federal government to address the high cost of fertilizer, proposing a subsidy to reduce prices to 15,000 Naira per bag to support farmers and boost food production.
