Peter Agada Named YPP Presidential Candidate for 2027

The Young Progressives Party (YPP) has appointed Peter Agada as its presidential candidate for the 2027 general election, replacing Anita Zugwai-Chukwu, who was previously the party's candidate and National Women Leader. This change was confirmed during a presidential and vice-presidential substitution primary election held in Abuja on Friday.

Agada, who joined YPP in June after being disqualified from the Labour Party’s presidential primary, stated that his campaign focuses on the challenges faced by Nigerians, including poverty, food insecurity, and youth unemployment. He highlighted that 140 million Nigerians live at or below the national poverty line and that 35 million are hungry.

Agada proposed a governance approach termed “governance with GPS,” aiming to tackle the root causes of poverty rather than merely managing its effects. He also referenced his two decades of experience in public policy and criticized other presidential aspirants for lacking concrete implementation plans for their policies.
