Fayemi Urges APC Aspirants to Focus on Primaries

Kayode Fayemi, the former governor of Ekiti State, addressed APC aspirants during a stakeholders' meeting in Isan Ekiti, urging them to prioritize facing primaries instead of seeking endorsements for the 2027 general elections. He highlighted the significance of consensus in electing candidates, as stipulated by the Electoral Act, but stressed that aspirants must be prepared to engage in direct primaries.

Fayemi expressed concern over new entrants in the party who may not respect its foundational principles and warned against allowing outsiders to seize control. He clarified that there is no endorsement from the current governor, Biodun Oyebanji, and emphasized that aspirants should focus on their achievements rather than relying on endorsements.

APC state chairman, Sola Elesin, reiterated that the party supports free and fair competition among aspirants and will not tolerate any attempts to misrepresent the governor's position or undermine the democratic process within the party.
