Kayode Fayemi, the former governor of Ekiti State, addressed party stakeholders in Isan Ekiti, warning against what he termed "kangaroo endorsements" of candidates ahead of the 2027 general elections. He urged members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) to disregard unauthorized endorsements that could create divisions within the party. Fayemi emphasized the importance of conducting credible primaries, stating that mutual agreement among aspirants is a legitimate option. He highlighted the necessity for strict adherence to the party's constitution and the Electoral Act, cautioning that deviations could lead to post-primary litigations. Sola Elesin, the Ekiti APC chairman, dismissed speculations regarding endorsements for Governor Biodun Oyebanji, labeling them as false and misleading. He assured party members of a level playing field and pledged that the APC would uphold fair and transparent internal democracy throughout the primary process. Both Fayemi and Oyebanji expressed concerns about emerging internal divisions within the party.
