Rivers Politicians Deny 2027 Governorship Ambitions

Edison Ehi, a former Chief of Staff to Governor Siminalayi Fubara, and Boma Iyayi, the Executive Director of Finance and Administration at the Niger Delta Development Commission, publicly denied any ambitions for the governorship of Rivers State in the upcoming 2027 elections. Their denial came in response to a misleading poster that featured their images alongside Dakuku Peterside, a former Director General of the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency, suggesting a candidacy under the African Democratic Congress.

In their statements issued in Port Harcourt, both politicians described the poster as a desperate attempt to mislead the public and create division. They reaffirmed their loyalty to Governor Fubara and the People's Democratic Party, emphasizing their commitment to the current administration and urging the public to ignore the baseless claims.

Ehi and Iyayi characterized the poster as unauthorized and a distortion of facts aimed at undermining unity and stability in Rivers State.
