Abia Governor Alex Otti Denies Labour Party's Coalition Plans for 2027 Elections

Abia State Governor Dr. Alex Otti has addressed reports about the Labour Party considering joining a coalition before the 2027 general elections.

Otti emphasized that the party will maintain its independence and concentrate on enhancing its internal organization. The statement came after a meeting with the party's national executive committee in Abuja.

The Labour Party recently faced a leadership crisis following a court ruling that upheld the removal of Julius Abur as the national chairman. The court directed the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to recognize Senator Nenadi Usman as the head of the party's national caretaker committee.

Despite the court's decision, Abur plans to challenge the ruling and appeal the judgment. Otti's remarks indicate the Labour Party's intention to run independently in the 2027 elections without engaging in coalition negotiations.
