APC Endorses Obafemi Hamzat for Lagos Governorship in 2027

The Lagos State Chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has endorsed Obafemi Hamzat as its gubernatorial candidate for the 2027 elections, emphasizing his qualifications and experience in governance. The party's spokesperson, Seye Oladejo, stated that Hamzat is the most qualified candidate, highlighting the importance of choosing someone prepared for the role.

Hamzat has been involved in Lagos governance for over two decades, having served as Commissioner for Science and Technology under Governor Bola Ahmed Tinubu, and later as Commissioner for Works and Infrastructure under Governor Babatunde Fashola. He was also a technical adviser at the federal level.

In 2018, Hamzat sought the APC governorship ticket and later became the running mate to Babajide Sanwo-Olu, serving as Deputy Governor since 2019. The APC noted that Lagos requires a candidate with substantial experience to manage ongoing programs and projects, reinforcing the need for continuity in governance.
