SDP's Usman Bugaje Unveils Plans to Combat Nigeria's Issues

The Social Democratic Party (SDP) aims to tackle poverty, insecurity, and corruption in Nigeria by focusing on improved electricity supply, agricultural development, and technology reforms, as stated by the party's vice-presidential candidate, Usman Bugaje. Bugaje outlined the SDP's policy direction in preparation for the 2027 presidential election, emphasizing that addressing the underlying causes of Nigeria's economic and security challenges is crucial.

He linked poverty to insecurity, asserting that economic empowerment is essential for a comprehensive security strategy. Bugaje highlighted the importance of reliable electricity in reviving businesses and creating jobs, stating, "Electricity is key to ending Nigeria’s poverty." The SDP plans to enhance farmers' access to quality seeds and affordable loans while developing agricultural value chains.

Additionally, Bugaje proposed combining economic interventions with technology and stronger political will to address insecurity. He also mentioned the need for reducing corruption by cutting government costs and strengthening institutions, advocating for a political system that prioritizes ideas over personalities.
