Nigerian Troops Neutralize 201 Terrorists in April 2026

In April 2026, the Defence Headquarters (DHQ) of Nigeria reported significant military achievements, including the neutralization of 201 terrorists, the arrest of 284 suspects, and the rescue of 188 abducted civilians, comprising women, children, and the elderly. Major General Michael Onoja disclosed these details during a press briefing in Abuja.

The operations were part of a coordinated effort against Boko Haram and the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) across states such as Adamawa, Borno, Gombe, Taraba, and Yobe. Notably, on April 1, eight terrorists were neutralized in a coordinated ambush in Bama, Borno State, with no casualties on the troops' side.

Additionally, operations in the North West led to the neutralization of 20 terrorists and the arrest of 32 suspects. In the Niger Delta, troops intensified security operations, arresting 17 suspects and destroying illegal refining sites, recovering over 101,000 liters of petroleum products.
