Nigerian Forces Neutralize 40 Terrorists, Rescue 72 Hostages

From April 3 to April 9, 2023, the Nigerian Armed Forces, under the direction of Maj Gen Michael Onoja, neutralized 40 terrorists and rescued 72 hostages during nationwide operations. The troops dismantled illegal refinery sites, foiled multiple attacks, and disrupted terrorist logistics networks, particularly in North East Nigeria, with significant operations around Borno, including Gwoza.

The forces repelled coordinated terrorist advances and conducted ambush operations, resulting in the recovery of ammunition and logistical supplies. However, the operations faced heavy resistance, leading to the death of four personnel, including Brig Gen O.O.

Braimah. Additionally, troops rescued 49 kidnapping victims, arrested suspects linked to notorious kingpin Ado Aleiro, and recovered arms across various states, including Zamfara, Katsina, and Plateau.

The operations also included the interception of stolen petroleum products and the dismantling of illegal bunkering infrastructure. Chief of Defence Staff Gen Olufemi Oluyede expressed condolences to the families of fallen soldiers and assured that their sacrifices were not in vain.
