Alia Declares No Endorsement for 2027 Elections

On Thursday, Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Alia, the Governor of Benue State, issued a stern warning regarding the unauthorized use of his name in political campaigns for the 2027 elections. In a statement released by his Chief Press Secretary, Sir Tersoo Kula, Alia made it clear that he has not endorsed or encouraged any individual to contest for political office.

He described the practice of invoking his name as misleading and an attempt to deceive the public for personal political gain. Alia reminded members of his administration that they must resign by March 31, 2026, if they intend to pursue political ambitions.

He stressed that the decision on candidates should be left to the people, asserting that he will not decide anyone's electoral fate. Furthermore, he cautioned aspirants against exploiting his name, warning that such behavior undermines public trust and reiterated his commitment to a fair and transparent electoral process.
