Alia Orders Appointees to Resign for 2027 Elections

Benue State Governor Alia has issued a directive requiring all political appointees who are eyeing positions in the 2027 general elections to resign from their offices by March 30, 2026. This announcement was conveyed through a statement from the governor's Chief Press Secretary, Tersoo Kula, in Makurdi on Friday.

Governor Alia emphasized that this decision is necessary to maintain the pace of development in the state and to prevent any disruption in governance. He noted that early resignations would allow for the appointment of replacements, ensuring the continuity of governance.

Alia reiterated his administration's commitment to improving the lives of residents and stressed that nothing should hinder the progress of the state, maintaining a focus on service delivery rather than political distractions.
