Zulum Won't Impose Running Mate for Borno APC Candidate

Borno State Governor Babagana Umara Zulum announced that he will not impose a running mate on the All Progressives Congress (APC) gubernatorial candidate for the 2027 elections. During a visit to the Emir's palace in Biu Local Government Area, Zulum disclosed that the APC gubernatorial candidate is expected to announce their running mate next week.

He mentioned that 27 aspirants have indicated interest in becoming the party's deputy governorship candidate. Zulum emphasized that party stakeholders should provide advice during the selection process to ensure that the final decision reflects the overall interest of Borno State rather than sectional considerations.

He recalled that when he selected his own running mate, he received advice from former Governor Kashim Shettima before making the final decision, stressing that no candidate should be imposed.
