Adeleke Campaign Council Petitions NHRC Ahead of Election

On Monday, the Imole Campaign Council, representing Governor Adeleke, submitted a petition to the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) in Abuja. The council expressed concerns about security and the protection of fundamental rights ahead of the upcoming governorship election in Osun State.

Spokesperson Barrister Pelumi Olajengbesi called on the Inspector-General of Police to assure residents of a peaceful and credible election. The petition was prompted by incidents of arrests involving council members, including Hon Popoola Alabama.

The council requested that the police clarify the circumstances of these arrests and either file charges or release those detained. Olajengbesi also urged the Inspector-General to confirm the neutrality of the Nigeria Police Force and to ensure adequate security throughout the electoral process.

Additionally, he called on President Bola Tinubu to ensure federal institutions uphold their constitutional duties impartially during the election period. The council expressed confidence that the election would reflect the will of the Osun State populace.
