Adebayo Promises N200 Petrol Price if Elected in 2027

During the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) Personality Interview Series on Sunday in Abuja, Adebayo, a presidential candidate, pledged that if elected in 2027, he would reduce petrol prices to N200 per litre within 12 months. He stated that this reduction would be achieved by reviving Nigeria's local refineries and creating a conducive environment for modular refineries.

Adebayo emphasized that Nigeria's refineries, despite being nearly 50 years old, are still operational and should be utilized, contrasting them with older refineries in the United States. He proposed restoring a subsidy regime that would allocate 450,000 barrels of crude oil for local consumption, with revenues from other derivatives funding the price stabilization.

Adebayo criticized the current focus on petrol subsidy debates, advocating instead for the development of domestic refining capacity. He also linked cheaper fuel prices to broader transportation policies, suggesting public transport improvements and employer contributions to transportation costs for workers and students.
