Adebayo Promises N200 Fuel Price if Elected in 2027

Prince Adewole Adebayo, the presidential candidate of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) for the 2027 general elections, pledged to reduce the prices of petrol, cooking gas, and aviation fuel (Jet A1) to N200 per litre within his first year in office if elected. Adebayo made this commitment during the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) Personality Interview Series in Abuja.

He stated that the price reduction would be facilitated by reviving Nigeria's existing refineries and creating a favorable environment for modular refineries. Adebayo emphasized that Nigeria's refineries, despite their age, remain operational and should not be abandoned.

He proposed restoring a subsidy arrangement that reserves 450,000 barrels of crude oil for domestic use, with proceeds from other derivatives funding the price maintenance. Adebayo also linked cheaper fuel to broader reforms in transportation, housing, and social welfare, promising expanded public transport access and capping housing costs at seven percent of workers' salaries.
