INEC Assures No Glitches in Future Elections Ahead of 2026

Prof. Joash Amupitan, the chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), expressed confidence that the glitches associated with the INEC Results Viewing (IREV) system during the 2023 elections will not reoccur.

This assurance was given during a town hall meeting held in Abuja, where he discussed the Electoral Act 2026. Amupitan stated that the issues faced in 2023 have been addressed, and with God's grace, such glitches will not surface in Nigeria again.

He highlighted that the Senate has approved electronic transmission of election results, a significant step towards improving the electoral process. Additionally, President Bola Tinubu has signed the Electoral Act 2022, which includes the repeal and re-enactment of the bill for 2026, indicating a commitment to enhancing the integrity of elections in Nigeria.
