The African Democratic Congress (ADC) is currently delaying the announcement of its presidential candidate for the 2027 elections. An insider revealed that this decision aims to prevent internal crises and promote broader agreements among key stakeholders within the party.

Discussions regarding the presidential ticket have not officially commenced, as the party focuses on unity to avoid divisions that could weaken its position against the All Progressives Congress (APC). The ADC is also dealing with ongoing legal issues, with members awaiting clarity from the Supreme Court of Nigeria before moving forward.

The party is exploring a consensus arrangement to identify the strongest candidates, which may include notable figures such as former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, former Labour Party flag bearer Peter Obi, former Kano Governor Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, and former Minister of Transport Rotimi Amaechi. Tensions have arisen due to alleged external interference in the party's affairs, particularly comments made by Femi Gbajabiamila that appeared to favor certain individuals, which has drawn criticism from expelled members.
