Salako-Oyedele Enters Ogun West Senate Race for 2027

Engr. Noimot Salako-Oyedele, the Deputy Governor of Ogun State, has joined the race for the Ogun West Senate seat in the upcoming 2027 elections.

This development comes as the political landscape in Ogun State shifts, particularly after the All Progressives Congress (APC) adopted Senator Olamilekan Adeola as its consensus gubernatorial candidate. Salako-Oyedele has reportedly obtained a Senate nomination form, signaling her intent to represent the people of Ogun West.

Alongside her, three male aspirants, including Senators Gbolahan Dada, Waliu Taiwo, and Jimoh Ojugbel, have also obtained nomination forms. The APC is aiming for a seamless transition in the senatorial race, with party stakeholders hoping to maintain unity and avoid internal friction as the 2026-2027 electoral cycle approaches.

Notably, Ogun State has not produced a female senator since Senator Iyabo Obasanjo left the Senate in 2011, adding a gender dimension to the current political dynamics.
