Ogun Deputy Governor Enters Senate Race for Ogun West

Ogun State Deputy Governor has officially joined the Senate race, aiming to succeed Olamilekan Adeola, who is the current APC governorship candidate. The Deputy Governor obtained the Senate nomination form, signaling intent to represent the people of Ogun West.

This development comes as the APC adopts a consensus approach to governorship candidacy, with attention shifting to the vacant Senate seat left by Adeola. Political observers note that the consensus arrangement is crucial for maintaining unity within the party and avoiding internal friction as the 2026-2027 electoral cycle approaches.

The Deputy Governor, who holds a Master’s degree in Civil and Public Health Engineering from Imperial College London, is respected within the Awori and Yewa blocs, which form the backbone of the Ogun West Senatorial District. The political landscape in Ogun State has become increasingly competitive, with three other male aspirants also reported to have obtained nomination forms.
