Sultan of Sokoto Denies Supporting Tinubu for 2027

The Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar, has refuted claims circulating on social media that he encouraged Nigerians to support the re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the upcoming 2027 presidential election. In a statement issued by the Sultan Media Team, represented by Prince Bashir Adefaka, the public was urged to disregard what was described as a malicious attempt to involve the Sultan in partisan politics.

The statement emphasized that the Sultan's role is that of a father figure, providing blessings and guidance to all politicians, regardless of their political affiliations. It reiterated that the Sultan's doors are open to all Nigerians and that he remains committed to promoting peace, unity, and stability among the diverse peoples and faiths of Nigeria.

The Media Team also called for media practitioners and social media users to verify information before sharing, to prevent misleading the public and dragging revered institutions into political controversies.
