Sultan of Sokoto Denies Backing Tinubu for 2027 Election

The Sultan of Sokoto, Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar, CFR, mni, has publicly declared that he has no favorite candidate in the upcoming 2027 presidential election. This statement was made in response to circulating reports on social media that falsely claimed he urged Nigerians to support President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's re-election.

In a statement signed by his media aide, Prince Bashir Adefaka, Abubakar asserted that as a father to all, it is impossible for him to endorse one candidate over others, either privately or publicly. He described the misleading reports as malicious and an unpatriotic attempt to involve him in partisan politics for selfish interests.

The Sultan reiterated that his doors remain open to all individuals, regardless of their political affiliations, and he will continue to engage with all Nigerians without discrimination.
