Sultan of Sokoto Denies Endorsing Tinubu for 2027

The Sultan of Sokoto, Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar III, issued a statement on Tuesday through his media team, denying any endorsement of President Bola Tinubu for a second term ahead of the 2027 presidential election. The statement, signed by Bashir Adefaka, described circulating reports on social media as false and malicious, aimed at involving the Sultan in partisan politics.

It emphasized that as a father figure to all Nigerians, the Sultan cannot publicly endorse any candidate or political party. The media team urged the public to ignore any misrepresentation of the Sultan’s position regarding political campaigns.

The statement reaffirmed the Sultan’s commitment to impartiality and his role in promoting peace, unity, and stability across Nigeria. It also cautioned media organizations and social media users against spreading false information that could mislead the public and entangle religious institutions in political controversies.
