Ajayi Resigns from Ogun SUBEB for Obasanjo's Senate Campaign

Abiodun Ajayi, a former Chairman of Abeokuta South Local Government and Permanent Member III of the Ogun State Universal Basic Education Board, resigned from his position to concentrate on his role as Director-General for Senator Iyabo Obasanjo's 2027 Senate campaign. His resignation letter, dated August 31, 2026, was addressed to Governor Dapo Abiodun, in which he expressed gratitude for the opportunity to serve in the administration and contribute to the development of basic education in Ogun State.

Ajayi stated that his decision was made to avoid balancing competing responsibilities and expectations. He confirmed his resignation in a telephone conversation, denying reports of a potential defection from the All Progressives Congress to the opposition.

Ajayi previously served as the DG for Iyabo Obasanjo during her gubernatorial campaign under the APC and has now been appointed to lead her Senate campaign. Obasanjo is the Peoples Democratic Party’s candidate for the 2027 senatorial election in Ogun Central.
