Iyabo Obasanjo Returns to PDP for Senate Race

Iyabo Obasanjo, a former Senator representing Ogun Central from 2007 to 2011, announced her return to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to seek a Senate seat in the upcoming 2027 elections. She expressed concern that successive representatives have diminished the accomplishments achieved during her tenure.

Speaking in Abeokuta during the official flag-off of the PDP campaign for the 2027 Presidential and National Assembly elections in Ogun State, which drew thousands of supporters, Iyabo stated her commitment to reclaiming the lost glories of the Ogun Central Senatorial District. She emphasized her desire to provide effective representation and restore the district to its former status.

Iyabo Obasanjo, the daughter of former President Olusegun Obasanjo, had previously spent a brief period in the All Progressives Congress (APC) before returning to the PDP.
