Jonathan Fails to Submit PDP Nomination for 2027 Elections

Former President Goodluck Jonathan failed to appear for the submission of his presidential nomination form for the People's Democratic Party (PDP) ahead of the 2027 elections, leading to fresh uncertainty regarding his political intentions. Reports indicate that a faction within the PDP, aligned with Seyi Makinde, had announced Jonathan's participation in the party's presidential screening exercise scheduled for Tuesday.

However, party officials reportedly waited for Jonathan's arrival for several hours without seeing him. Lere Olayinka, a member of the faction led by Senator Ahmed Makarfi, disclosed that stakeholders waited until 4 PM on the day of the expected submission but did not see Jonathan.

Consequently, the announcement of the submission was postponed indefinitely. This incident further deepens the uncertainty surrounding Jonathan's interest in contesting for the presidency in the upcoming elections, despite several groups within the PDP continuing to push for his return.
