Kebbi Government Alerts Public on Fake News Ahead of 2027

The Kebbi State Government has expressed alarm over an alleged campaign of fake news purportedly orchestrated by opposition elements in anticipation of the 2027 general elections. During an advocacy meeting on October 23, Governor Yakubu Ahm highlighted the need for vigilance against misinformation, which he described as a political tool used by opposition figures to instill fear.

Special Assistant to the Governor on New Media, Nasir Idri, supported these claims, urging media professionals to remain vigilant and counter false narratives that could negatively impact public perception of government policies and programs. This meeting was part of a statewide advocacy tour aimed at strengthening the government's communication strategies and improving public engagement.

The first phase of this tour included meetings in Zuru, with similar engagements scheduled in Argungu, Yauri, and Birnin Kebbi, all designed to enhance the capacity of the government's media team to respond promptly to misinformation ahead of the elections.
