Kebbi Deputy Governor Rejects Claims of Foul Play

Umar Abubakar-Tafida, the Deputy Governor of Kebbi State, addressed supporters in Argungu, rejecting claims that his replacement as the running mate to Governor Nasir Idris for the 2027 governorship election was due to a Supreme Court judgment related to the 2023 election. He stated that the Supreme Court had ruled in his favor, emphasizing that the judgment was based on facts and not technicalities.

Tafida expressed that the reasons given for his replacement were unfounded and politically motivated, suggesting that he was a victim of political maneuvering. He acknowledged the change as part of divine will but firmly rejected the notion that legal considerations were behind his disqualification.

Tafida affirmed his loyalty to Governor Nasir Idris, highlighting their cordial relationship and urged his supporters to remain calm and law-abiding while he addresses misconceptions regarding the situation.
