Kebbi State Government Condemns Violence Ahead of 2027 Elections

The Kebbi State Government has issued a warning to political parties, supporters, and stakeholders against political thuggery and violence as the 2027 general elections approach. This statement follows recent incidents of violence and property destruction in Jega local government area, which the government deemed unacceptable.

Abdullahi Idris, the Special Adviser to Governor Nasir Idris on Communication and Strategy, called for a thorough investigation to identify and prosecute those responsible for the violence. He stressed that political differences should be resolved through dialogue and lawful democratic processes, rather than through confrontation.

Idris acknowledged the broader security challenges in Nigeria but insisted that insecurity should not justify violence or attacks on individuals and political organizations. He urged all parties to exercise restraint and avoid inflammatory rhetoric.

The government commended security agencies and community leaders for their efforts to restore calm and assured residents affected by the violence that their concerns would be addressed.
