Kano CP Bakori Warns Politicians Against Thuggery

On Thursday, at the Police Officers’ Mess in Bompai, Kano, Commissioner of Police Bakori held a strategic engagement with political party leaders and contestants to address the upcoming 2027 elections. He warned that thuggery and violence would not be tolerated, stressing the importance of responsible political conduct due to Kano's significant population and political influence.

Bakori urged political parties to avoid hate speech, fake news, and incitement, and to comply with the Electoral Act 2022 and guidelines from the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC). He emphasized the need for political leaders to manage their supporters' behavior and take responsibility for their actions.

Bakori announced the establishment of an Election Security Situation Room and Complaint Response Desk to monitor electoral activities. He assured that security would be provided for INEC facilities and campaign venues, and warned that violators of public peace would face arrest and prosecution.

Bakori called for a campaign focus on peace, promoting the slogan: “Peace First. Kano First.

Nigeria First.”.
