Yobe Police Warn Against Violence Ahead of 2027 Elections

The Yobe State Police Command issued a warning to politicians and youth groups against actions that could disrupt peace in the state as political activities for the 2027 general elections intensify. Commissioner of Police Usman Jibrin delivered this warning on Monday during a briefing after a State Security Council meeting chaired by Deputy Governor Alhaji Idi Barde Gubana in Damaturu.

Jibrin noted that the meeting reviewed the security situation and adopted new strategies to enhance law and order. He reported a significant reduction in various crime categories this year.

However, he expressed concern over emerging political activities, urging political actors to conduct their campaigns peacefully and within legal boundaries. Jibrin mentioned that disturbances linked to political movements had already been recorded, with arrests made, including an incident involving supporters of a former Secretary to the State Government and African Democratic Congress candidate in Machina.

He cautioned against violence and urged politicians to focus on issues rather than personal attacks.
