Kwankwaso Rejects Muslim-Muslim Ticket for 2027 Elections

Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, the former governor of Kano State, has publicly rejected the proposal for a Muslim-Muslim presidential ticket for the 2027 general elections, arguing that Nigeria's diverse religious composition necessitates a balanced ticket to promote national unity and inclusivity. During an appearance on Channels Television's "Politics Today," Kwankwaso expressed his disbelief that President Bola Tinubu would consider such a ticket, stating that it does not reflect the realities faced by the people of Northern Nigeria.

He criticized the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) alliance for not fully understanding the challenges confronting the region, particularly regarding governance influenced by religious and ethnic identities. Kwankwaso also expressed confidence that the NDC would emerge victorious in the upcoming elections, despite ongoing legal disputes affecting the party's participation.

He underscored the importance of a balanced ticket, referencing his own experience in the 2023 elections when he selected a Christian cleric as a running mate to ensure broader representation.
