Kwara Youth Groups Criticize APC's Candidate Selections

The 52-Youth Coalition in Kwara State has criticized the All Progressives Congress (APC) for its selection of two serving members of the State House of Assembly as candidates for the governorship and deputy governorship positions in the 2027 general elections. The coalition's statement, signed by secretary Bashir Amid, noted that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) had initially listed Bello Mubarak Salau as the APC's deputy governorship candidate before he was replaced by Hon. Oluwaseun Ogunniyi Adato, the lawmaker representing Ojomu/Balogun Constituency.

The coalition described this choice as unusual and unprecedented, stating that no political party in Nigeria has ever nominated two serving colleagues from the same chamber for these positions simultaneously. They emphasized that Kwara State has many accomplished individuals who could have been considered instead.

The coalition also contrasted the APC's choices with those of the Peoples Democratic Party, which selected Engineer Kale Kawu as its governorship candidate and Rev. Fawenu as his deputy, highlighting their qualifications and community service.
