Kwara 2027: APC Faces Growing Opposition Ahead of Elections

The political landscape in Kwara State is shifting as opposition to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) grows in anticipation of the 2027 governorship elections. A faction of discontented APC members, previously known as the G15 group, has reformed into The O to ge Progressives (TOP).

During a recent town hall meeting in Ilorin, Senator Yahaya Oloriegbe, representing the group, expressed their endorsement of President Bola Tinubu's presidential candidacy while rejecting all candidates from the state chapter of the APC for the upcoming elections. The meeting also led to a proposal for the movement's leadership to explore alternative political options, with a committee tasked to report back within a week.

Meanwhile, Dr. Abdulmumin Yinka Ajia, the NDC governorship aspirant, criticized the current government and urged voters to focus on candidates' ideas rather than their backgrounds, advocating for policies that promote self-sufficiency and economic growth under his Forward Kwara Agenda.
