Youth Groups Back Danladi-Salihu for APC Governorship

Youth groups in Kwara State have expressed their support for Yakubu Danladi-Salihu, the Speaker of the Kwara State House of Assembly, as the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate for the 2027 election. They believe his emergence has transformed the political landscape by introducing a younger generation of politicians into the gubernatorial race.

The joint statement from the Kwara North Integrity Youth Forum, Ilorin Emirate Dynamic Youths, and Kwara South Young Professionals in Politics, signed by coordinators Aliyu Likofu, Abdulwaheed Olamilekan, and Owoduni Adekunle, emphasizes Danladi's political experience, which includes his involvement in student politics and campaign organization prior to his election to the State House of Assembly in 2019. At 41, Danladi became Speaker of the Ninth Assembly at age 34 and was re-elected in 2023.

The groups assert that his candidacy should not be viewed solely through his age, as his extensive political background equips him for the governorship.
