Labour Party Urges Unity Ahead of 2027 Elections

On Saturday, Senator Nenadi Usman, the National Chairman of the Labour Party, called on Nigeria’s political class to embrace issue-based campaigns and foster patriotism and tolerance as the country approaches the 2027 general elections. Speaking during the 80th birthday celebration of former Plateau State Governor Senator Jonah Jang in Jos, Usman warned against divisive politics that could undermine national unity.

She stated that political competition should not devolve into bitterness or hatred, emphasizing that elections should be a contest of ideas, competence, and character. Usman asserted that Nigerians deserve leaders who unite rather than divide and called for greater civility in political discourse.

She urged politicians to reject inflammatory rhetoric and embrace mutual respect, highlighting that democracy thrives on dialogue and tolerance. Usman also praised Senator Jonah Jang for his decades of service and contributions to Nigeria, noting that his career exemplifies dedication to national service.
