Usman Urges Unity and Tolerance Ahead of Elections

Senator Nenadi Usman, the National Chairman of the Labour Party, called on political leaders across Nigeria to embrace patriotism, tolerance, and issue-focused politics as the country nears another electoral cycle. Speaking at the 80th birthday celebration of former Plateau State Governor Jonah Jang in Jos, Usman stressed that the political class must prioritize national interests over personal and partisan agendas for the nation's advancement.

She remarked that political competition is essential in democracy but should not lead to animosity or hatred. Usman emphasized that elections should be a contest of ideas, competence, and character, urging that once elections are over, all Nigerians must unite.

She advocated for leaders who promote unity and hope, rather than division and fear, and called for civility in political discussions. Usman stated that history remembers those who build strong institutions and protect democracy, asserting that democracy thrives on tolerance and respect for differing opinions.
