Labour Party Names Dr. Okereke as 2027 Presidential Candidate

On Thursday, during a hybrid National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting held at the Labour Party's national secretariat in Abuja, Dr. Chibuzo Okereke was ratified as the party's presidential candidate for the 2027 general elections.

The meeting also confirmed Abia State Governor Dr. Alex Otti and 1,209 candidates for various electoral positions across the country.

Iheanacho Obioma disclosed that the party successfully conducted its primaries on May 30, 2026, in compliance with the Electoral Act 2026 and the party's guidelines. The primaries produced a total of 1,211 candidates for 1,491 available electoral positions nationwide.

Dr. Okereke emerged as the sole presidential candidate, while the party nominated 28 governorship candidates, including Governor Otti.

The Labour Party's primaries were conducted peacefully and transparently. Dr.

Okereke expressed gratitude for his nomination and pledged to provide visionary leadership, restore public confidence in governance, and prioritize national security, economic recovery, and social cohesion.
