Labour Party Postpones Congresses and National Convention

The Labour Party has announced the postponement of its congresses and national convention, which were initially scheduled to commence on March 26, 2026. The ward congress was to take place on March 26, followed by local government congress on March 28, state congress on March 31, and the national convention on April 11, 2026.

This decision was made during a meeting involving members of the interim national working committee (NWC) and representatives from labour unions. The statement, signed by Ken Eluma Asogwa, Senior Special Adviser on Media, emphasized that the postponement aims to provide ample opportunity for members to participate fully in the ongoing membership re-registration exercise.

The party has inaugurated a 45-member congress convention committee, chaired by Ginger Onwusib, to ensure thorough preparations for the upcoming events. Nenadi Usman, the national chairman of the party, urged committee members to discharge their responsibilities diligently and take full advantage of the postponement to guarantee a hitch-free congress and convention.
