Labour Party Zones 2027 Presidential Ticket to South

The Labour Party has officially zoned its presidential ticket for the 2027 general elections to the southern region of Nigeria. This announcement was made by Nenadi Usman, the party's caretaker committee chairman, during a meeting with the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

Usman stated that the party will not field any candidates from northern Nigeria for the presidential position, reinforcing the party's commitment to internal democratic processes. She declined to name any potential candidates but emphasized that the party would adhere to democratic norms during the primaries.

Usman also hinted at a possible review of the Labour Party's upcoming congress dates, which are currently set against the backdrop of ongoing membership registration, to avoid disenfranchising a significant number of people.
