Labour Party Zones 2027 Presidential Ticket to South

The Labour Party, led by chairperson Nnenadi Usman, has officially zoned its presidential ticket for the 2027 elections to the southern region of Nigeria. This decision, finalized within the party, indicates that no candidates from northern Nigeria will be fielded for the presidential position.

Usman emphasized that the party will not accept any aspirations from the northern zone for this election. Additionally, the Labour Party announced the postponement of its scheduled congresses, with the national convention now set to take place on April 11, 2026.

The revised timeline includes ward congresses on March 26, 2026, and local government congresses on March 28, 2026. The announcement was made during a statement by Ken Eluma, the senior special adviser on media to the interim national chairman, aimed at enhancing member participation in the ongoing membership re-registration exercise.
