Lagos APC Challenges Rhodes-Vivour on Hamzat's Eligibility

The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Lagos has responded to allegations made by Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour, the governorship candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), questioning the eligibility of APC candidate Dr Obafemi Hamzat over an alleged oath of allegiance to the United States. APC spokesman Mogaji Seye Oladejo stated that Rhodes-Vivour's claims resurrect an issue previously addressed in the legal challenge to the 2023 Lagos governorship election.

Oladejo asserted that while constitutional eligibility questions are valid, they should be resolved through legal institutions rather than political discourse. He pointed out that Rhodes-Vivour had previously included this issue in his legal team's case during the 2023 election litigation.

Oladejo urged Rhodes-Vivour to present any new evidence in court rather than making public allegations. He also emphasized the need for the upcoming 2027 governorship election to focus on policy alternatives rather than past disputes, challenging opposition candidates to present their plans for addressing Lagos's pressing issues.
