Lagos GAC Endorses Hamzat for 2027 Governorship Election

The Lagos Governor's Advisory Council (GAC) has officially endorsed Deputy Governor Hamzat as the consensus candidate for the 2027 governorship election. This decision was disclosed on Tuesday by Jubril Gawat, the Senior Special Assistant to Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu on New Media, following a meeting held at Lagos House, Marina.

Gawat noted that the council's endorsement signifies a strong show of unity within the Lagos APC ahead of the upcoming elections. Furthermore, the council members have gone beyond merely endorsing Hamzat; they have also purchased his nomination form.

This development comes just 24 hours after Governor Sanwo-Olu publicly declared his support for Hamzat as his preferred successor during a closed-door meeting with party leaders and members of the state executive council. Sanwo-Olu praised Hamzat's competence, experience, integrity, loyalty, and commitment, emphasizing that he possesses the necessary qualities to lead the state.
