LP Chairman Claims Victory in Abia for 2027 Elections

Peter Azubuik, the Chairman of the Labour Party (LP) in Abia State, asserted that the party would secure victory in the 2027 general elections if the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) conducted elections today. Speaking at the party's secretariat in Umuahia, Azubuik emphasized the LP's grassroots-driven approach and its strong presence, citing the election of 184 councillors, 17 local government chairmen, and 20 members of the Abia State House of Assembly as evidence of widespread acceptance.

He mentioned that the party has adopted a direct primary system to ensure transparency in candidate selection and dismissed reports about the sale of nomination forms, stating that multiple aspirants purchased forms in various constituencies. Azubuik reaffirmed the party's commitment to internal democracy and mobilization efforts leading up to the 2027 elections.

He also noted that the LP, under the leadership of Nenadi Usman, has been recognized by INEC and has been granted access to upload candidates on the INEC portal.
