ADC Candidates Propose Security Plans for Northwest Nigeria

On Wednesday, the seven governorship candidates of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) for the 2027 elections from Northwest Nigeria, led by former Attorney General of the Federation Abubakar Malami, SAN, unveiled a joint service compact in Abuja. This initiative aims to recover the region from years of backwardness and address the severe insecurity that has plagued it, with over 16,000 lives lost and more than 1,583 kidnapping incidents reported since January 2023.

The candidates expressed their support for the ADC presidential candidate Atiku Abubakar's plan to reintroduce petrol subsidies, which they believe will help alleviate poverty in the region. They committed to implementing a minimum wage of ₦110,000 for workers across the seven states of Northwest Nigeria if elected.

The candidates present included Malami (Kebbi), Manir Mohammad Daniya (Sokoto), Sabo Mohammed Nakudu (Jigawa), and Shinkafi Bilyaminu Yusuf (Zamfara), while representatives attended for Katsina, Kaduna, and Kano.
