ADC Candidates Promise N110,000 Minimum Wage in 2027

On Wednesday, the North-west African Democratic Congress (ADC) governorship candidates signed a compact and unveiled a joint manifesto aimed at addressing insecurity and poverty in the region as political campaigns for the 2027 governorship and state Houses of Assembly elections commenced. The candidates pledged to implement a minimum wage of N110,000 for workers if elected and expressed support for the ADC presidential candidate, former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar, particularly regarding his plan to restore petrol subsidy.

Abubakar Malami (SAN), the former Attorney General of the Federation and ADC governorship candidate for Kebbi State, spoke on behalf of the candidates, emphasizing the need for governance reform to tackle the region's crises. He reported that over 16,000 lives were lost to insecurity from June 2023 to August 2026, with more than 1,583 kidnapping incidents since January 2023.

Malami highlighted the abandonment of over 533,000 hectares of farmland and the region's high rate of out-of-school children, committing to reversing these trends through effective governance.
