Ogun APC Candidate Yayi's Tribute to Late Actor Ogogo

Senator Solomon Adeola, known as Yayi, the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate for Ogun State, announced during a condolence visit to the family of the late actor Taiwo Hassan, popularly known as Ogogo, that he intended to appoint him as his Special Adviser on Tourism and Culture if he won the 2027 election. Yayi described Ogogo as an elder brother and praised his significant contributions to acting and the preservation of Yoruba culture.

He stated, “I told God that if it is destined for me to be governor, my elder brother Ogogo will be my Special Adviser on Tourism and Culture.” Ogogo passed away on August 23, 2026, at the age of 66 after battling stage-four cancer. Yayi reflected on the efforts made to support Ogogo during his illness and expressed his condolences to the actor's family and the community of Ilaro, where Ogogo was a celebrated figure in Yoruba cinema.
